Al-Haj Ahmed Ali Steel Re-Rolling Mills Ltd.
It is a public limited company incorporated in 1963. The company has been listed in the Dhaka Stock Exchange in 1970. The group is the principal shareholder of the company and enable the company to grow rapidly and reach a significant size. The company is financially sound and well managed.
It is one of the largest fully automatic steel Re-Rolling plant in Bangladesh set up in a complex covering an area of 30 acres of land located at Ishurdi, 180 km from the capital. The most modern mill was designed and commissioned with the joint collaboration with Kobe Steel, Japan. The annual production capacity of the mill is 40,000 tons of high quality steel products. Various small-scale industries, wholesalers and the general consumers of the country are the main customers of this mill.
Bangladesh has around 250 Steel Re-rolling Mills out of which five are the largest automatic units. Al haj Steel mill notably is one of the largest mill of the country procuring M.S. Billets as raw materials from Chittagong Steel Mills and also imported the same from USA and other countries. The finished goods are of various sizes of round and deformed bars and other high quality steel products. The round bars of 6mm and above sizes are used for construction of buildings, bridges, roads etc. The specially produced 5.5 mm round bars are only manufactured by specialised few factories in Bangladesh including this one. Therefore there is big demand in our country by wire and nail factories.
The finished goods are marketed from the warehouse maintained at the factory site and also at Dhaka. The major construction takes place in Dhaka therefore the main sales activities are also in Dhaka.
Al-Haj Steel has participated in various government tenders supplying thousands of tons of steel in Teesta Barrage in Rangpur, one of the biggest barrage project of the country.
This project was set up to improve irrigation of the vast region in Rangpur. World Bank financed it under the consultancy of foreign technician & expert.
The company has also supplied huge quantities of deformed bars to Bera Pumphouse in Pabna and various Government Municipal markets in Dhaka city.
The Head Office of the company is at Dhaka wherefrom everyday activities are directed by the Managing Director. The management makes frequent visits to the factory site for supervision of the activities of the mill. There are experienced engineers and technicians running the unit and the day-to-day operation. Quality assurance gets top priority and have a proven reputation for good quality and performance earned over 36 years.

Hossain Industries Ltd.
Hossain Industries Ltd is a private limited company of the group. It is actively doing business in the field of industrial manufacturing and trading sector.
Manufacturing Units are located at Fatullah (10 Kilometres South of
capital). The complex has two acres of Land connected with a major Highway adjacent to the River Buriganga. It produces Ingots by using Steel Scraps and Chemical procured locally as well as imported from abroad. Processing of scraps into Ingots is done by two manufacturing units of Electric Arc Furnace having an annual production capacity of 35,000 M. Tons of Ingots. These Ingots are used by Local Steel Re-Rolling Mills to produce Mild Steel Bars of different shapes and sizes. Highly experienced Project Manager, Foreign and Local technicians and Skilled workers runs the factory under close supervision of the Directors including monitoring the progress with constant communication and co-ordination.
The Company has set up Large Steel Re-Rolling Mill beside the two furnaces at Fatullah, Dhaka. The
plant is now producing 100,000 tons of steel bars annually.
Trading Division of the Company represent many Internationally World reputed companies from USA, Canada, EEC Countries and the far East on different products
such as Defence Equipment, Aircraft's Components & Spare Parts, Aeronautical Equipment, Airport Ground Support Equipment,
Aircraft Inflight Items, Aero Lubricants, Industrial and Engineering Equipment, Geo-Textile, Hi-Tech Water Proofing Chemical, Textile Fabric and Accessories.
It has also extended its representation by doing business in the field of Aircraft's Repair & Overhauling in collaboration with Repair Service Station in UK approved by Helicopter manufacturing company of USA. The Main customers for Aviation Sector are Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Civil Aviation Authority and Defence Purchase Directorate under the Government of Bangladesh.
The Company has earned a very good reputation with Civil Aviation, Defence Purchase Department and Biman Airlines by supporting them with their Components/ Spare Parts and Equipment for the last
18 years.
Biman Airlines is specially very satisfied with the services provided to them at the time of AOG and for their C-check requirements. The company therefore has an excellent connection and rapport with the top executives and officials of the Airlines.
In 1995 the Company reached an Agreement with Xypex Chemical Corporation, Vancouver, Canada to Market their Water Proofing Products in Bangladesh as an exclusive distributor in Bangladesh. Hossain Industries Ltd. is importing their products since 1996 directly from Canada. The product has good reputation in our market and the same product has not much competition in the country. There is a big potential of market for this product in Bangladesh since we have major problem with heavy rainfall every year. We are importing consignment of Xypex from Canada regularly. We have supplied to some of the major construction projects.
In 1997 the Trading Division of the Company has imported Steam Generator from Finland as an exclusive distributor in Bangladesh from Saunatec Company. This is a Hi-Tech Luxury item for Health care sector. The Company is marketing such new items which is marketed in Bangladesh for the first time.
Mr. Khaled S. Ahmed, one of the Director of the group who has vast experience in dealing with foreign companies by working with them from different parts of the World. Some of these companies are most renowned and notably one of the biggest organization in the World.

M. Hossain Cold Storage
This is a newly established private limited company incorporated in 1995. The project is situated in the district of Rajshahi, about 300 km from Dhaka city. It is a multipurpose cold storage for storing 12,000 tons of Potatoes, Fruits, Vegetables and other food products.
The company has 3 acres of its own land. The plant and machineries are latest and fully automatic, imported from Denmark and England.
The company has already gone in to commercial production during the season of 1998. The company stores its own stock and also rents out to farmers and big business
houses to store their foods products.

Al-Haj Cold Storage:
The company was incorporated in 1985. The project is located at Pabna and imported its machineries from Frick- USA, Toyo- Japan and Siemens-Germany. The plant has a storing capacity of 7000 M.tons of potatoes, fruits and vegetables. Besides company's own stock sold storage space is rented out to farmers and wholesalers to store their products during the season.
F. M. Corporation Ltd.
F. M. Corporation Ltd., a Private Limited Company is located at the Head Office of the Company at Dhaka and exclusively Deals in Diesel Engines, Agricultural Tractors, Power Tillers and other Agricultural Equipment's importing from China. The Company is currently Marketing Power Tillers and for Marketing in the Northern Part of the Country.
A Regional Office of F. M. Corporation has been already established there. The Company is arranging facilities for assembling power tillers in the country after importing those in CKD Condition. For this purpose the Company have already Purchased 3 Acres of Land in the District of Sreepur about 50 K. M. from the Capital. The site is near the biggest bridge of the country.
The Area is the Gateway of North Bengal (Northern Part of Bangladesh). To establish the Industry, the arrangement for importing the machineries is going on.

F. M. Foods Ltd.
It is a newly formed privately owned company by the Al haj family. The company's aim is to establish a joint venture Potato granule/ flake-manufacturing factory in Bangladesh with the investment and technical assistance from Canada. With a view to develop the company, a memorandum of agreement have been signed with CANCOM of Calgary, Canada headed by Mr. Bill Richardson.
The Canadian company is interested to invest in Bangladesh as a joint venture partner. Under the terms of the joint venture, the Canadian counterpart will supply the machineries and equipments with technical expertise. The local company is going to provide land, building and the working capital for the project. A condition of the Letter of Agreement is the execution of formal documentation, which is going to take place after the feasibility and the due diligence is completed. The signing is expected to be made by the end of this year. The total project cost is around US $ 15 m.
