Eastern Insurance Company Limited (EICL) incorporated on 7 June 1986 when Government of Bangladesh allowed Insurance Company in private sector. The Insurance Company was incorporated by the Directors of aforesaid Companies and other Co-Sponsors within the Family.
The company went public on 31 October 1993 and listed with both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchange. The authorised capital of the company is BDT 100 million and paid up capital rose to BDT 75 million in December 2006.
The company conducts general insurance business through branches all over Bangladesh.
