It is a limited company incorporated in 1963. The company has been listed as public limited company in the Dhaka Stock Exchange in 1970. The group is the principal shareholder of the company. It is one of the largest fully automatic steel Re-Rolling plant in Bangladesh set up in an area of 30 acres of land located at Ishurdi near EPZ, 180 km from the capital. The most hi-tech industrial unit of its time was designed and commissioned with the joint collaboration with Kobe Steel, Japan. The annual production capacity of the mill is 40,000 tons of high quality steel products. Bangladesh has around 250 Steel Re-rolling Mills out of which five are the largest automatic units. Al haj Steel mill notably is one of the largest mill of the country procuring M.S. Billets as raw materials locally and also imported from abroad.
